Mission and Impact

At Patients: The Heart of It All, our mission is to prevent and raise awareness of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) while amplifying the voices of patients and their unique stories. By advocating for patient-centered care, innovative education, and inclusive policy-making, we are dedicated to empowering individuals and communities to take charge of their heart health.
Through our initiatives including groundbreaking awareness campaigns like Lindsay’s Big Heart and legislative achievements such as Lindsay’s Law we are transforming lives through advocacy, education, and prevention.
Join us in creating a future where every voice is heard, every heart is protected, and every life is celebrated.
Impact Highlights
Transforming Policy and Advocacy
Our journey began with the passage of Lindsay’s Law, ensuring young athletes are protected from sudden cardiac arrest through education and screening. We then went on to pass legislation in several states to make CPR training a graduation requirement. Our legislative efforts have driven life-saving change nationwide. We worked for 7 years to help Congressman Frank Pallone pass the HEARTS Act which was signed into law by the President in December 2024. Our work extends to initiatives benefiting minority communities, including advocating to declare racism a public health crisis, ensuring equity in heart health care and prevention.

Lindsay’s Big Heart
Through the children’s book Lindsay’s Big Heart, we’ve inspired countless young patients and families to embrace their diagnosis with courage and hope.

Media and Editorial Leadership
Our advocacy has reached audiences locally and nationally through appearances on NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX, and features in the Daily Mail, Web MD and more. Additionally, our founder has penned op-eds in USA Today and Sports Illustrated and has been featured in leading medical journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM). As an associate editor of Open Heart BMJ, we ensure the patient voice is central to medical advancements and awareness efforts.

Advocacy at the United Nations
We’ve brought the patient voice to global platforms, including the United Nations, where we championed women in leadership and sustainable health initiatives.

Collaborative Research
In collaboration with the World Heart Federation, we contributed to research advancing care for patients with Chagas cardiomyopathy, emphasizing our global commitment to heart health.
